Twins Cie & Rex in Days Of Our Lives - who can help me?

What exactly is their history? DOOL hasn't been airing long in the UK where i live & the episodes being shown are way back from 2002 so i'm 7yrs behind. Their currently enrolled at Salem U where they have just encountered the mysterious Prof. Putnam who has their bracelets and can control them. Who is he, why do they have amnesia and what is their link to the DiMera family? If any die hard fans can remember that far back then your help is greatly appreciated.
