Hey im doing a history project and need sum help deciding what materials to use?

i want to make a model of the cologne cathedral in germany but im not sure what to use. clay isnt good for the elaborate details or to glue wood again too many details and carving, would cardboard work?? give me an opinion on sumthign that would make it look nice neat and the best material to use in this case.
