What are some possible reasons an emergency room doctor would order a one liter stat bolus of NS?

The information I have is the client is a new quadriplegic following a fall. The client had a low hemoglobin and hematocrit (9.0 & 28.2). No information available regarding vital signs. ABG's showed a very high PO2 level of 381.2.
