Are parents these days worse than previous generations or were they always this bad?

I feel there have always been bad parents, obviously if parents these days are bad. The kid acts out in daycare, because he doesn't get the right kind of attention at home. His mom is always screaming obscenities to him, whether he's doing right or wrong. Everything out of her mouth is negative, he has a low self image of himself and his spirit is shot down. What else is he suppose to do? He's never praised for doing good, he never gets any attention beyond a yell. It's the parents fault, and nine times out of ten, their parents were the same way towards them.
